Parasite Control & Prevention

Prevent internal and external parasites with a parasite prevention plan.

Parasites can live off your pet. These unwelcome guests can affect their overall health and in some cases result in fatality. Although all parasites are dangerous, some are more deadly and can spread to humans. Internal parasites like heartworms, roundworms, whipworms, tapeworms, and coccidia can destroy important organs. Internal parasites can go for a long time without being noticed by the pet owner. External parasites like mites, fleas, and ticks can be seen on your pet's body. At our hospital, our parasite control plan gives your pet protection from both types of parasites.

How does parasite prevention work?

We create a parasite prevention plan that will keep your pet and family members healthy. For maximum protection your pet needs to take preventatives throughout the year, even during the winter. Based on your pet's environment and lifestyle the veterinarian may prescribe a monthly preventative and techniques that can protect your pet from parasites. It is important that your pet takes them medication on time to maintain good health.

How can I protect myself and the rest of my family from parasites?

Zoonotic parasites can transfer from pets to humans. You can get tapeworms and roundworms from your pet. It's important to note that children, seniors, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women have a higher risk of catching parasites from pets. The key to protecting yourself and your family is to safely dispose of your pet's waste and always wash your hands after handling them.
